Wild Silence

In this nonfiction tour around the world, stunningly illustrated and photographed, award- winning nature photographer Pete McBride shares his experiences of places in the world where human noise pollution recedes and allows the sounds of the natural world to be heard, particularly the sounds of animals.

The reader accompanies McBride on a tour of seven continents, anchored with photographs and stories of one or more animal species he has encountered in each place. McBride’s vivid storytelling is focused on both place and animals and touches on ways in which human development is threatening our natural world.

Pete Mc Bride

Pete McBride is a self-taught photographer, filmmaker, writer, and public speaker who has traveled on assignment to over seventy- five countries for the National Geographic Society, Smithsonian, Google, and the Nature Conservancy. His documentary Into the Canyon was nominated for a 2020 Emmy, and his book The Grand Canyon won the National Outdoor Book Award and the National Park Book of the Year.
